ESTATE SETTLEMENT SERVICE

Depending on each specific situation, our subsidiary National Bank Trust can act as the liquidator or co-liquidator designated by the testator (the person making the will) or the beneficiaries. It can also be appointed mandator or given power of attorney on behalf of the liquidators named by the testator or the beneficiaries. Whatever role you want us to play, you can be sure that the tasks you assign us will be carried out to your complete satisfaction.

LET EXPERTS DO THE WORK FOR YOU

Settling an estate is a complex task, one that requires expertise in a number of areas. If you wish, we can take charge of the entire process, from the day of the testator's death until all the assets have been officially distributed to the beneficiaries:

  • searching for and probating the will, as applicable;
  • analyzing the provisions of the estate;
  • making an inventory and appraising all estate property;
  • claiming insurance benefits, bank accounts and other benefits or allowances;
  • provisionally managing the assets;
  • paying all debts, including income tax;
  • publishing the prescribed legal notices;
  • liquidating matrimonial rights;
  • tax planning after death;
  • filing income tax returns;
  • obtaining governmental authorizations;
  • dividing up the property and distributing it to the beneficiaries.
