National Bank showcases how differences bring us together
Montreal, 7 June 2007 -
National Bank is proud to be holding its 4th annual Diversity Week, which will run from June 11 to 15. The purpose of the event is to raise Bank employees’ awareness of the benefits of diversity and reduce prejudice in the workplace. The theme of this year’s Diversity Week is “Our differences bring us together.”
“With some 17,000 employees from varied backgrounds, 450 branches nationwide and millions of clients, we at National Bank experience diversity on a daily basis,” explained Alice Keung, Senior Vice-President and Chief Information Officer – Information Technology at National Bank and Diversity Week spokesperson. “For a bank, it’s only natural to have a diversified portfolio.”
A wide variety of conferences and activities are planned for the week, which kicks off on Monday, June 11 with a friendly wheelchair basketball tournament in which members of the Bank’s senior management will try to keep up with disabled athletes who play the sport competitively.
The flavours of Africa are on the menu for June 13, when a lunchtime activity is scheduled to take place outside the Bank Tower. For every meal sold at the event, $1 will be donated to the Quebec Wheelchair Sports Association, a non-profit organization with more than 300 athlete-members throughout the province.
