National Bank announced today that it is making a donation of $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support efforts to provide relief to those affected by the tornadoes that ripped through the Ottawa and Gatineau areas. The Bank will also be offering specific measures to clients who were impacted.
These measures include:
- Deferred payments on personal loans
- Deferred payments of principal and interest on personal mortgage loans
- Personalized, case-by-case agreements for affected business clients
"The extent of the damage in the area is severe. First-hand accounts from clients of our 920 St-Joseph Blvd. branch in Gatineau, as well as damage inside the branch itself, attest to the level of devastation. We estimate that more than a month will be needed to return the branch to its normal operations. In the meantime, we will work to help the community and affected clients recover from this ordeal," explained Lucie Blanchet, Executive Vice-President, Personal Banking and Marketing at National Bank.
The Bank's donation will be used to provide the basic human needs of shelter, food and clothing.
Clients impacted by the tornado are encouraged to contact other branches in the region or Telephone Banking Solutions at 1-888-835-6281 to discuss their case.
