FUNDS AVAILABILITY FOR DEMAND DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS
Cross-Border Business Solutions (Canada/U.S.)
(New York Branch)
Your ability to withdraw funds
Subject to the exceptions described herein, our general policy is to
make funds from your deposits available as per your instructions. We
do not receive cash deposits and cash is not available for withdrawal.
Under normal circumstances, the following types of deposits will
usually be available for withdrawal immediately on the day we receive
the deposit:
- Electronic direct deposits (ACH)
- Wire transfers
- Cheques drawn on an account held with us (i.e. New York
Branch)
Our general policy does not apply to deposits made remotely through
our Digital Deposit Service. For such deposits, the first $250 of the
total deposited on any given day will be made available the first
business day after we receive your deposit. Remaining funds will be
available for withdrawal on the second business day following deposit.
For determining the availability of your deposits, consider that
business days do not include Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal or New
York State banking holidays. If we receive your deposit before 3:00
p.m. on a business day that we are open, we will consider that day to
be the day of your deposit. However, if we receive a deposit after
3:00p.m. or on a day that we are not open, we will consider that the
deposit was made on the following business day that we are open.
Longer delays may apply
Funds you deposit by check may be delayed for a longer period under
the following circumstances:
- You deposit checks totaling more than $5,525 on any given
day.
- You redeposit a check that has been returned
unpaid.
- You have overdrawn your account repeatedly in the
last six months.
- There is an emergency, such as failure of
communication or computer equipment.
- We have reason to
believe that a check you deposit will not be paid.
We will notify you if we delay your ability to withdraw funds for
any of these reasons and we will inform you when the funds will be
available. Any delays in availability will be within the guidelines as
established under Regulation CC of the Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System.
Special rules for new accounts
If you are a new customer to the Bank, the following special rules
may apply during the first 30 days of opening your account:
Funds from electronic direct deposits to your account will be
available on the day we receive the deposit.
Funds from wire deposits and the first $5,525 of a day’s total
deposits of cashier’s, certified, teller’s, traveler’s, federal, and
state and local government checks will be available on the first
business day following the day of your deposit. Any surplus over
$5,525 will be available on the ninth business day after the day of
your deposit. If your deposit of these checks is not made in person to
one of our employees, the first $5,525 will not be available until the
second business day following the day of your deposit.
Funds from all other check deposits will be available on the ninth
business day after the day of your deposit.
